Redditch

Redditch is ideally located - nestled within the beautiful rolling countryside of Worcestershire and yet at the very heart of the British motorway network.

A frequent train service links Redditch with Birmingham City Centre; the Airport and the National Exhibition Centre.

Designated a New Town in 1964, Redditch has seen its population more than double since then as new housing, office and industrial developments have been carefully blended into the town. Improvements continue to be made as the Council works with its partners to plan spectacular arts, leisure and sporting facilities for future generations. At the same time the area continues to remember its unique industrial heritage and a history dating back to the middle ages.

Today Redditch is a beautifully landscaped community, with excellent parks and recreational areas, a shopping centre that is one of the largest and most popular in the midlands, well laid out residential and industrial areas serviced by an efficient road system.

Bromgrove

Bromsgrove dates back to anglo-saxon times, previously known as Bremesgfrefa and Bremesgrave, it was regarded higher in status than Birmingham, when recorded in the Doomesday book.

The town was very much industry driven, in the 16th century nail making in Bromsgrove grew rapidly, and lasted nearly 300 years before the introduction of machine-made needles.

More modern times have brought with them a bustling market town - with High Street shops, and banks, Bromsgrove is now an important town in Worcestershire.

Most recently, plans have been announced to re-make aspects of the town including the knocking down of the 10 year old Market hall and the expansion in width of the Spadesborne Brook. (read more)

Rubery sits in the District of Bromsgrove, which itself is in the county of Worcestershire.

Rubery was originally called Rowberrie in 1884 - later becoming Rowburry and then Rowbry before becoming Rubery, as it is known today - after it developed as a village from a collection of hamlets around the Old Rose and Crown on Rose Hill, a major coaching road on the route from Birmingham to Worcester.

Now, with southerly Neighbour the Birmingham Great Park, bringing wealth and people to the area constantly since it opened in 1999, Rubery boasts a population of aproximatley 16,000 people - so it's a large village. (read more)
